Braves' Orlando Arcia: On base three times Sunday
Rotowire
Arcia went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.
It's the first time all season the veteran shortstop has drawn multiple free passes in a game. Arcia's rough start to the year has continued into June, and through eight games this month he's batting just .207 (6-for-29), but three of those hits have gone for extra bases -- two doubles and a homer.

Braves' Jarred Kelenic: Blasts three-run homer
Rotowire
Kelenic went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run Sunday against the Nationals.
Kelenic's ninth-inning three-run blast cut the deficit to three and provided Atlanta with their final runs of the afternoon. The homer was a good sign for Kelenic, who appears to be fine after having missed a couple of games earlier in the week with a wrist injury. It was the seventh multi-hit game of the season for Kelenic, who is hitting .310 (9-for-29) with three doubles, a triple, a homer and five RBI over his last nine games.

Braves' Hurston Waldrep: Suffers loss in debut
Rotowire
Waldrep (0-1) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing seven runs on four hits and four walks over 3.2 innings against the Nationals. He struck out one.
Waldrep began his major-league debut well, allowing only a walk over the first three innings. However, the bottom fell out in the fourth when he allowed seven of the nine men he faced to reach base, and he was pulled with two outs and the bases loaded having already allowed four runs. Reliever Aaron Bummer then came on, allowing a double to the next batter, CJ Abrams, clearing the bases and saddling Waldrep with seven earned runs. Despite the ugly result, the 22-year-old prospect looked the part through three and should receive more chances to stick in the rotation for the time being. Should he make his next turn, his start would be tentatively slated to take place next weekend when the Rays come to Atlanta for an interleague showdown.

Braves' Sean Murphy: On bench Sunday
Rotowire
Murphy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
Murphy started the previous three games and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale in Washington. Travis d'Arnaud will step in behind the plate to catch for Hurston Waldrep in his MLB debut.

Braves' Ronald Acuna: Shifts to 60-day IL
Rotowire
Atlanta transferred Acuna (knee) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
The 26-year-old recently underwent season-ending surgery to repair the torn ACL in his left knee, so it was only a matter of time before he was moved to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on the 40-man roster. Acuna will have nearly 10 months of recovery and rehab before Opening Day in 2025, so there's a chance he's ready for the start of next season.

Braves' Hurston Waldrep: Called up for first MLB start
Rotowire
Waldrep had his contract selected from Triple-A Gwinnett ahead of his start Sunday against the Nationals.
The 22-year-old was previously announced as the starter for Sunday's series finale in Washington, and he's now officially been added to the MLB roster. Waldrep was recently promoted to Gwinnett from Double-A Mississippi and will make his big-league debut with just two career games under his belt at Triple-A. He's pitched well between the two affiliates this season with a 3.09 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 59:18 K:BB across 55.1 innings.

Braves' Charlie Morton: Falls to Nats
Rotowire
Morton (3-3) took the loss Saturday against Washington, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits over five innings. He struck out three.
The Nationals got to Morton early Saturday, scoring three runs in the first two innings. The 40-year-old Morton has had a tough time with Washington this year, yielding 12 earned runs over 10.2 innings in two starts against the Nats. His ERA now sits at 4.12 on the season with a 1.30 WHIP and 68:28 K:BB across 67.2 innings. Morton will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week at home versus Tampa Bay.

Braves' Jarred Kelenic: Back in lineup
Rotowire
Kelenic (wrist) is starting in left field and batting ninth Saturday versus the Nationals.
Kelenic missed Atlanta's last two games after injuring his wrist on a diving catch Wednesday, but it no longer seems to be an issue. The 24-year-old outfielder has gone 10-for-31 (.323) with three RBI and five runs scored over his last 10 games.

Braves' Daysbel Hernandez: Recalled to Atlanta
Rotowire
Atlanta recalled Hernandez from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
With Jimmy Herget (shoulder) headed for the injured list, Hernandez will rejoin Atlanta's bullpen to replenish the team's bullpen depth. The 27-year-old righty appeared in two games during his first big-league stint earlier in the year, throwing two scoreless innings while striking out one batter and walking one. He boasts a 2.29 ERA in 19.2 frames at Triple-A and figures to be used in middle relief while in Atlanta.

Braves' Jimmy Herget: Placed on injured list
Rotowire
Atlanta placed Herget on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right shoulder inflammation.
Herget struck out two batters and gave up a solo home run during his most recent outing Wednesday, and he appears to have come away from the game with a shoulder injury. He'll remain sidelined until at least June 21, and Daysbel Hernandez will come up from Triple-A Gwinnett to fill Herget's spot in the bullpen.

Braves' Hurston Waldrep: Making MLB debut Sunday
Rotowire
Atlanta will call up Waldrep from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday to start against the Nationals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Waldrep was promoted to Gwinnett last week after posting a 2.92 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through 49.1 innings at Double-A Mississippi, and he'll now get the call to Atlanta after striking out 11 batters in six innings during his Triple-A debut. It's possible the 22-year-old right-hander is sent back to Gwinnett following his debut Sunday, though an impressive outing could give him another opportunity to lock down the fifth spot in Atlatna's rotation. The big club has struggled to find consistency at the back end of the rotation since losing Spencer Strider (elbow) for the season.

Stats

Braves' Chris Sale: Rebounds in losing effort
Rotowire
Sale (8-2) took the loss Friday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out 10.
It was a strong bounce-back effort from Sale after he surrendered eight runs against Oakland in his last start. However, Atlanta couldn't get on the board until the eighth inning in an eventual 2-1 defeat. Sale now has eight or more strikeouts in six of his last seven outings. His ERA sits at 3.01 with a 0.94 WHIP and 92:11 K:BB across 12 starts (74.2 innings) this year. Sale's currently in line for a road matchup with the Orioles in his next outing.

Braves' Jarred Kelenic: Likely back Saturday
Rotowire
Kelenic (wrist) is likely to return to Atlanta's lineup Saturday versus the Nationals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Kelenic is missing a second straight start Friday after tweaking his right wrist on a diving catch Wednesday. However, he hit in the cage Friday and will be available to pinch hit, putting him on track to return to the starting nine Saturday.

Braves' J.P. Martinez: Making first start of season
Rotowire
Martinez is batting ninth and playing right field Friday against the Nationals.
Martinez will make his first start since being called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on May 27. Jarred Kelenic (wrist) is dealing with a minor injury and Ronald Acuna (knee) is out for the season, so Friday's start might not be a one-off for Martinez.
