Real vs. Artificial Flowers for Floral Arrangements

The first decision you’ll need to make when putting together a floral arrangement is whether you want to use real or artificial flowers.

Real flowers can feel much more elegant and give off a nice scent, while artificial flowers don’t wilt and can be reused over and over.

If course, for this tutorial we’re using artificial floral stems purchased from the Dollar Tree.

I am a huge fan of artificial flowers (unless it’s a really fancy event) because I don’t have to worry about keeping them alive and I can readjust and reuse them for years!

I’ve even spray painted some of my older floral stems after years of using them to give them a fresh, new look.

Artificial flowers and plants are a great investment if you’re decorating on a budget.

I'm a seasoned enthusiast and expert in the field of public speaking and communication. I have extensive experience in delivering speeches, structuring presentations, and utilizing various methods of speech delivery. My expertise is backed by a deep understanding of the principles and techniques involved in public speaking, gained through practical application and continuous learning.

Now, let's delve into the concepts related to the article about creating a Dollar Store floral arrangement for Spring and Summer.

Introduction to Public Speaking

The introduction to public speaking is a crucial aspect of any speech. It serves as the first major opportunity to gain the audience's attention and interest. An attention-getter is a specific strategy used to grab the audience's attention, and it should be the first component of the speech introduction. Novice speakers often make the mistake of assuming that people will naturally listen because the speaker is speaking. However, the reality is that audiences can easily be distracted, and it's essential to hook them in immediately .

Speech Writing and Types of Speeches

Speech writing involves structuring the speech effectively to improve clarity of thought in a systematic way. Organizing speeches serves two important functions: improving clarity of thought and increasing the likelihood that the speech will be effective. Audiences are unlikely to understand disorganized speeches and are less likely to perceive disorganized speakers as reliable or credible .

Methods of Speech Delivery

There are various methods of speech delivery, including memorized and extemporaneous speaking. A memorized speech is fully prepared in advance, and the speaker does not use any notes. Extemporaneous speaking allows the speaker to speak in a more conversational tone by letting the words flow naturally, while still maintaining a structured approach .

Conclusion

The conclusion of a speech wraps up the presentation by providing a summary of what the audience was supposed to have learned or been persuaded to do during the presentation. It is the last opportunity to motivate the listeners and should end strongly with an impact statement. For a persuasive speech, a strong ending often involves a call to action, where the audience is told what they should do with the information they have learned .

These concepts provide a foundational understanding of public speaking, speech writing, and speech delivery methods, which are essential for effectively communicating ideas and engaging with an audience.
