The Germany Euro 2024 squad put on a show for their home fans against Scotland on Friday night.
Kicking off their Euro 2024 campaign at the Allianz Arena against Scotland, Germany put in a dominant 5-1 performance despite the immense pressure they were clearly under. Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz all scored in the first half to ensure Germany headed into the break 3-0 up, before Niclas Fullkrug and Emre Can added a couple more in the second half.
The only slight mark in the game for Germany was an own-goal from Antonio Rudiger, but that won't concern the fans of the host nation too much. Wirtz, Musiala and Ilkay Gundogan all showed real quality in their first match, setting them up for a strong tournament.
But while some sights might already be set on reaching the knockout stages, Julian Nagelsmann and his Germany Euro 2024 squad will know they'll need to be on top form to overcome Hungary and Switzerland in their other two group games.
Indeed, Die Mannschaft will want to makie qualification to the knockouts as straightforward as possible. Regardless, their result against Scotland proves why they're among the favourites - helping remove the question marks and doubters over whether they could live up to that billing or not.
As with every team at the tournament, FourFourTwo will bring you all the latest on Germany as we report live from the European Championship. Every game is available to watch live, too, while we have details on every Euro 2024 squad.

Germany manager: Julian Nagelsmann
Euro 2024 is a redemption story for Julian Nagelsmann – and an intriguing match-up between coach and country. The national team fired Hansi Flick following a shock loss to Japan, with the former Bayern Munich man floundering in the main role, following his years as Jogi Low's right-hand man. Nagelsmann was a temporary solution.
But the young manager has since signed a longer-term deal, refusing the overtures of former employers Bayern after they came crawling back. The 36-year-old might just be the best tactician at the tournament and he's perhaps closer to the elite in style and experience than anyone else at the Euros. This should be interesting…
Germany's star player
Florian Wirtz
Is there a better playmaker in Europe anywhere than this guy? Florian Wirtz is coming off an incredible unbeaten Double with Bayer Leverkusen and is suddenly one of his country's main men. It's been a long time coming, too: Wirtz was always tipped for this level but significant injury problems have hampered his development.
The 21-year-old coming good is perfect timing for his country, who will need his creativity and flair in their home tournament this summer.
Strengths
Kroos' ability to read and dictate the game remains elite. On top of that, the squad's myriad playmaking ability is potentially match-changing-Musiala, Sané, Wirtz, Gundogan, Havertz... they have so many ways to strike, as well as scythe-over-sickle Niclas Fullkrug. They've found their groove-stick to it.
Weaknesses
Still the easy-to-target full-backs. With Kroos' return and Joshua Kimmich's dip in form, the latter will operate at right-back; the opposite flank, though, is a mystery.
Stuttgart's Maximilian Mittelstadt, 27, made his international debut earlier this year and is already the likeliest option, but most choices look concerning off the ball. At least Havertz won't be anywhere nearby. The laconic Arsenal waif may be many things - a defender isn't one of them.
