Sugar-free chocolate
Are you ready for the ultimate keto holiday treat? Keto chocolate truffles are a sort of mix between a cookie and candy, and at Christmas I definitely have a weakness for chocolate. Well, thatās really all the time!
This sugar-free truffle recipe is easy and fun to do. Get the kids involved and put on the Christmas music or a holiday movie. Then just try not to eat them all in one sitting. š
I like to keep them in the freezer for an afternoon chocolate fat bomb treat. That way, itās easy to eat one when you need it! Yes, sometimes I do need chocolate.

Family traditions: Holiday Movies
When it comes to family holiday traditions, you canāt go long before the kids start naming off all the Christmas shows and movies they love and HAVE to watch each year.
When we bake and make Christmas goodies if we donāt have Christmas music on we almost always have a holiday movie or show on in the background. Does your family do the same? Or do you have a movie night for the whole family once a week and watch them then?
Here are some of our favorites for baking, tree decorating, Christmas present wrapping, or just enjoying as a family. Itās our top 10 family Christmas shows! How many are on your list too?

šŖ Instructions
To make these keto chocolate truffles, begin by gathering the ingredients and kitchen utensils youāll need. First, take a large bowl and whisk together the almond flour, cocoa powder, and powdered sweetener.
Then pour the melted butter, cream cheese (or almond butter), and yourchoice of extract into the dry ingredients and beat it all together by hand or with a mixer.
š Top tip
To be honest, Iāve played with this recipe a lot, substituting different ingredients. Iāve come to prefer the taste of the cream cheese in these keto chocolate truffles. Yet, if you find you donāt have cream cheese or just prefer not to use it, there are other possible substitutes.
First idea, use 1/4 cup unsweetened almond butter instead of cream cheese. The mild flavor of the almond butter lets the other flavors shine through in the truffle. Also, if you sub melted coconut oil for the butter, the truffle will be dairy-free.
Another thought, peanut butter. You canāt go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter. However, if you go with the peanut butter it will definitely be a chocolate peanut butter truffle and hard to get other flavorings in.
šFlavorings for the Keto Chocolate Truffles
I love this recipe because itās incredibly versatile and you can add any number of flavorings to suit your taste. I recommend some Iāve tried and enjoyed, but definitely experiment with any others you think youād like as well.
Let me know if you try a different flavoring and it works well with the almond and chocolate. Pick one of the flavorings below and add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon to the butter mixture.
- Almond extract
- Peppermint extract (or 2-3 drops essential oil ā be careful, oils are strong!)
- Vanilla extract
- Orange extract
Then roll the dough into one inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Now place the entire pan in the freezer to chill for at least 30 minutes so the truffles can be easily coated with the chocolate and keep their shape.

How to make the chocolate coating
Meanwhile, prepare the chocolate coating.
First, create a double-boiler by filling a saucepan about half-full of water and put it on the stove on a medium-high heat.
Second, place a heat-proof bowl on top of the saucepan in which youāll put the chocolate to melt. The bowl should not touch the boiling water so it should be big enough to sit on top of the saucepan.
Now, melt the chocolate, cocoa butter, and sweetener in a heat-proof bowl over a saucepan of boiling water. Youāll need to stircontinuously until itās melted together and only then remove it from the heat.

Next, take the frozen truffle balls out of the freezer and place one at a time on a fork and dip it in the melted chocolate. Be sure to coat the truffle completely!
Then return the truffle to the baking sheet to harden and continue until all the truffles are coated. Now put them in the refrigerator or freezerto set.
š„£ How to store keto chocolate truffles
You can store them in the refrigerator for about a week in an airtight container. Similarly, they will be okay for about a month in the freezer, but I doubt theyāll last that long!

Chocolate is a gift of love to yourself.

Chocolate as a Christmas tradition
I admit chocolate is one of those things I have a LOT of trouble giving up. When I go strict Keto I avoid coffee and chocolate but find I soon need to reward myself with even a little bit of chocolate to keep going.
In moderation, chocolate and good chocolate recipes can be Keto-friendly and the key to keeping you on a Keto diet way of life.
Itās so hard to avoid chocolate and sweets at Christmas so why fight it? Prepare for it, and do it right! There are so many good options out there you really donāt have an excuse! For another Keto Christmas candy try this Keto toffee, yum!
I love this time of year. Definitely Iāve found planning and prepping are key to being successful on a Keto diet any time of year but especially around the holidays. Enjoy it.
Good luck!
