1- How to Declutter Your Kitchen:

Purge, purge and more purging…. The first step into decluttering your kitchen is to go through all your kitchen drawers and cabinets, sort out what is too old, broken or mismatched.

Get rid of things you never use, old stuff that are in bad shape, mismatched utensils and colors that don’t go with the rest of your kitchen. As you can see, I like gold flatware, brass or copper (well, I love gold!).

When buying small gadgets, measuring spools etc, I kept it all in the gold family. Also, I got rid of all old and mismatched kitchen utensils. I upgraded my utensils and my gadget set to match my flatware.

When it comes to bowls or food storage containers, I’m naturally drawn to pastel colors (as opposed to red/orange). So when buying new kitchen accessories I always look for these colors to ensure it will coordinate with what I already have.

Use drawer organizers to separate your utensils and flatware. I went with the clear shallow drawer organizer from The Container Store, but the bamboo storage bins looks really good as well. Before you begin, make sure to measure your drawers to calculate how many drawer organizers you are going to need. Make a template if needed, you can draw the sizes in paper/cardboard to map it out your drawer.

In my flatware drawer I used a mix of flatware drawer organizer and square ones to accommodate all my gold flatware, measuring cups and food storage clips.

A coordinating gold kitchen gadget set and utensils give the drawers a more uniform look and keep things looking organized. Try to keep the colors in the same family to ensure an uniform look.

3- Tupperware & Food Containers Organizer

Next on my list to organize was my Tupperware’s and food container drawer. I did a major clean up and threw out all the containers that had no lids or where in bad shape.

I like glass containers better for food storage, but I still have some plastic ones for when the kids need to take fruit or food somewhere. Lastly, I used an adjustable drawer divider to keep the lids separated from the containers.

4- How to Organize Baby Bottles and Sippy Cups

The kids drawer was the one that I hated the most and the one I attacked first! Without any drawer dividers, this drawer was a disaster. I use deep drawer dividers to keep sippy cups and bottles contained.

Again, I always try to buy things that go with the rest of my stuff. For the kids plates and cups I went with the pastel colors that they have it at target.

5- How to Organize Pots and Pans in Drawers

When we were planning our kitchen remodel and the cabinet layout, I asked to have as much drawers as possible. We have drawers on almost all the base cabinets except for three cabinets where we had plumbing running through it. One of my favorite drawers are the ones below the stove top.

These drawers are huge and deep enough to store my pans with the lids. On the first drawer I store the pans I use daily, the second gets the pans that I don’t use often (extra large pans, etc).

In the last two drawers in my kitchen island I keep my cutting boards and bellow that my dish towels. Again, I try to always buy coordinating items that match my kitchen.
