Today my staff and I had to lock our doors and walk out. It was hard to do because I enjoyed my team, my customers and my job, but unfortunately it had very bad upper management that no matter how much we tried to talk to them, change never happened! It’s sad this company allows people like this to be in charge. For “Family” being in the company name, they sure don’t care about people. By far the worst company I have ever worked for. Maybe it’s not all like that, but somebody is allowing leadership like this and it’s NOT OK!!! #FamilyDollar

This is the kind of thing my store deals with on a daily basis. I have requested chain of command phone numbers, company policies, and LP policies and have received nothing. Apparently it’s a secret. I have also requested more payroll to ensure proper coverage so that nobody works alone in a neighborhood where it is unsafe, and I have asked for more cameras and better security options. I’m only told it’s not needed. Now one of my ASMs was assaulted and the company tells me they are staying out of any “charges” or reports because it has nothing to do with them just my ASM. I love my job but things need to change! Employees need to be supported and taken care of. Family Dollar

This is the Family Dollar way. Let’s take a hard working dedicated manager (who’s not even a training manager) and throw them into a brand new store project for 2 weeks, and then to train a brand new manager and staff for 2 weeks…pull all potential ASMs for other stores because they are “short staffed” leaving you and the training manager. How do I stay within my 52 hours exactly?? And yet Texas is one of the lowest salary paying states. No wonder they can’t keep employees. DONT BLAME COVID!!! #FamilyDollar #wherestheFamily #takecareofyourown #116hourworkweek

I’m managing a struggling store in Abilene, TX and am so short staffed I’m working a minimum of 75 hours a week just to maintain… it’s the busy season and we need the help! Come join us! What staff we do have is all great to work with, easy going personalities and we always try to bring joy to the workplace. Nobody likes to go to a boring job with grumpy people all the time. I was excited when I got the job at Family Dollar and I love my customers. But I was given a store that was a complete disaster. Been through 6+ managers in a years time. Thought it was bad luck..beginning to learn it could be bad leadership, bad company, bad standards and procedures. My store is in a very unsafe location yet I’m expected to work by myself most of the time due to the budget. For such a large, growing company, why? Not only is it a theft/shrink issue it’s a safety issue. This store was behind about 8 months on their schematics/sets-about 30-35 totes of merchandise sitting in the back room that I have yet to get to because I don’t have enough time between weekly shipments and constant recovery and customers. One of our stores about a mile away was held at gun point and the manager was alone…the DM only cared about how why there was so much money in the drawer not the safety of the manager….this morning the store was broken into. What has to happen before the company makes it a policy to have 2 people on at all times? And then there’s the pay issue. Why is it that a 15 year old can go to McDonalds and get paid $15 an hour to flip burgers but we pay $8 an hour? That’s why we can’t get good workers! We won’t even talk about how little a store manager makes who is expected to work way more than they are suppose to. I average between 60-70 hours a week but get paid for 45? Hmm. Come on Family Dollar. You can do better than this
